Big Idaho Potato Truck

Have you ever seen a 4-ton potato? Come see one Wednesday, June 26.

We’re celebrating the Burbank Potato and its descendant the Idaho Russet with the team from the Big Potato Truck. Come see the Great Potato, take photos, and let the kids enjoy potato-related activities and crafts including potato stamping (paint on paper), building a Mr. (or Mrs.) Potato Head (sorry, they’re borrowed and can’t go home with you) and a Potato Scavenger Hunt through the Gardens (with prizes).

Everyone knows about the Idaho Russet potato – the source of french fries, baked potatoes and so much more. But did you know that Luther Burbank discovered the seeds (it’s very rare for potatoes to create seeds) for the Burbank Potato that developed in the Russet Potato? Every french fry you’ve ever eaten is thanks to Luther’s eye for detail and his curiosity about everything that grows in the garden.

When: Wed., June 26, 2019 10:00-2:00
Where: Luther Burbank Home & Gardens, corner of Santa Rosa & Sonoma Aves.
